A photographic and textual record of Grand Prix racing from 1934 to 1939 — the era of the great German Mercedes-Benz and Auto-Union cars — with text by Rodney Walkerley ('Grande Vitesse' of The Motor) and photographs by Robert Fellowes, who did not survive to see the book's original 1948 publication. This revised hardback edition of 1950 superseded the spiral-bound softcover issue. The jacket rear advertises Pomeroy's The Grand Prix Car 1906–1939, placing the copy firmly in the immediate post-war Motor Racing Publications stable.
